Mike Chua from Lucban, Quezon owns this VDub that is the basis for our concept. Volkswagen Concept: Shekinah (Glory of God) is a 1972 1600cc Econo. Bitten by the bug fever again, Mike bought this kleen Bug last March but used to have a 69 German and 75 Brazil VDubs before. Searching for the right candidate, he looked at different bugeyes, 1300s, 1303s, and 1302s before ending up again with an econo. “No regrets,its still a dream car for me” He says. Hopefully with God’s grace, makabili din ng kombi in the near future or a possible swap for certain activities like outreach and missions.
Mike continues, “I would like this bug to serve also in our church (Born Again Christian). Doing some medical missions, outreach to the poor, helping the needy, sharing the gospel. My wife and i would like to serve the church fulltime, we are just stabilizing our finances para hindi naman maging pabigat sa simbahan…hehe…i have 2 kids and pregnant uli si misis (another blessing).” He says “I dont like any engine modifications, probably some external mods like carriage like whats installed na… the purpose of serving Him (The Lord) would be the greatest modification that this beetle could have.”

Volkswagen Concept: Monte-Carlo 23 is based on a 1972 Volkswagen sedan built to take the vintage class at the Monte-Carlo rally. The pink shade should sear the retinas of the spectators as this rally-preped VDub takes on the Mini-Coopers, Escort Brendas, and Mitsubishi Lancers.
Starting with a strong balanced 1600 engine, the horsepower was increased with careful head porting and dual 34 Webers. Exhaustr gases are pushed through ceramic coated 1 3/4 inch freeflow headers. A full rollcage and rally gauges keep Hannah and Dennis up to the rigors of Alpine racing. A sturdy roofrack holds an extra spare while a quadra of Cibie “Oscars” illuminate the roads at night.
Volkswagen Concept: Oval Autocrosser(OXR)
Built for slalom racing, this forgotten 1953 Volkswagen Oval window sedan is based on a 1972 ball joint and IRS chassis that has undergone structural stiffening to elimate all flex. OXR has widened fiberglass front and rear fenders that allow fitting of 17″ JDM 6 spoke wheels with ADVAN racing tires. Full rollage and lightweight SPARCO racing seats dominate the stripped interior. A 2332 Monster Type1 is tuned for instant throttle response. Brembo brakes front and rear ensure late braking for terminal speed in the corners.
