Volkswagen Concept: Ovali is the 1955 Volkswagen Oval Window Sedan of Joy and Michael Asuncion. One of the neatest Volkswagens of the club.
This 1968, triple-black Volkswagen Cabriolet is owned by good friend and fellow VWCP member Bunny Evangelista. It was previously the property of another VWCP member and local VW legend, Ed Roces. I took the liberty of lowering his Cabrio and “enlarging” the stock 15 inch chrome Sprintstars to an unbelievable 18 inches. Adequate low profile rubbers really fill up the fenderwells. A Kamei front spoiler adds more attitude to an otherwise excellent VW
Bunny wants to change the color. British racing green with a tan top is the current favorite but I personally love deep, shiny black on VWs, especially on Cabriolets. I hope he doesn’t change the color. Oh, and a dark blood red interior will really make it POP!
Jet black paint coats the massaged, early model Type 3 Notchback.
Volkswagen Concept: Speed3 is given the speedster treatment. Which means a lightweight, stripped-down, bare-bones track rat. The body panels are painstakingly straightened before the deep ebony paint is sprayed on.
The Topchop is the single strongest visual statement. The roof, door tops and quarter windows are unceremoniously removed. Up to 3 inches are removed from the windshield posts and angled inward 7 degrees. The top part of the windshield now sports a custom aluminum header. Custom safety windshield, side plexiglass, and rubbers are fitted.
The interior is bathed in rich red leather, complemented with aluminum accents. VDO gauges complete the track inspired interior. The only concession to comfort is the iPod powered sound system.
A Gene Berg, close-ratio 5-speed gearbox tames the grunt of the blueprinted 3.4 liter, fuel-injected, Type4 engine.
Enormous 18 inch Michelin radials huge Porsche GT3 alloy rims Custom trailing Arms with Koni adjustable shocks accept massive Porsche brake upgrades. Front trailing arms and dropped spindles on a custom designed, narrowed T3 beam with same Porsche brake upgrades firm up the front.

Cutesy Volkswagen Brasiliamade into a tasty woodie
Start out with a clapped out Baja Bug, Chop off the roof, weld the doors shut and waterproof the damn tub. (Thank God for fiberglass) Further waterproofing of engine includes waterproof intake systems (snorkels) and an exhaust height level for safe water crossings. While in water, an Evinrude outboard motor provides aquatic propulsion instead of the complicated and antiquated original Schwimmwagen set-up. Pontoons at both sides, just like the Schwimmers, provide additional lift but it uses modern surfboard construction techniques (fiberglass over foam core). The interior while spartan is made out of scuba material in ultra-black. (piped in white, of course). 3G, SMS, MMS, GPS, MP4 courtesy of the Ipod and IPaq combo wirelessly connected to the megawatt Speaker system (Waterproof, natch)
While on the road, black-powdercoated 5×205 steelies (no ‘caps) and offroad (Mudder) rubber add enough class for this reptile and hi-output “Angel Eyes” headlights brightens up the road (or off-road).
Explosive Ordnance Disposal vehicles, also known as Bomb trucks, are custom-designed for professionals who detect and dispose of potentially explosive items.
This particular Volkswagen Concept is based on one the last 1303 Volkswagen Superbeetles. The rear Command Center conversion was completely fabricated for extremely hazardous duty.
A full complement of porsche parts gives a hint that this workhorse is built right. Ceramic Disk brakes and Porsche 993 Carrera Struts firm up the front. Reworked Porsche 944 rear torsion bars, control arms, and Koni shocks lower the rear end. Reinforced steel rims with bulletproof Michelin rubber fit the reworked front fenders quite nicely.
A 2300cc Type 4 motor, ceramic coated, merged exhaust with dual CB Performance 52mm fuel injection system provide more than adequate fuel to the big 103mm pistons.
Volkswagen Concept: B.O.M.B.S.Q.U.A.D. is loaded with storage. There are space for suits, disruptors, scanners, hook-and-line equipment, and more, B.O.M.B.S.Q.U.A.D. also features a dedicated area for a robot. A light-weight, easy-to-deploy ramp allows you to quickly take control of any situation. To add, B.O.M.B.S.Q.U.A.D. tows a bomb containment vessel.
B.O.M.B.S.Q.U.A.D. contains two workstations providing command and communications capabilities to your team as well as a safe, comfortable area to operate the robot.
A case based mobile system is included and provides high-speed connectivity. Both the Ground Control MSS .95 Meter and the MSST Toughsat .98 Meter systems can be deployed from this 3-piece container solution. The lighter weight makes it easier for a single person to set up connectivity. The MSST Toughsat is deployed on a reinforced aluminum pallet next to a 4U rackmount shipping case. The dish is secured to the truck roof.
The new EOD/IEDD Bomb Containment Trailer System was developed by US government Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts to enable relatively inexperienced operators to remove a suspect Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to a safe location where it can safely be examined or destroyed. The equipment is designed to safely contain and transport a suspect explosive object of up to 4Kg of TNT and up to 600mm x 800mm x 600mm in size. The unique design of the entire system enables it to be easily used with a minimal amount of training.
The Bomb Containment Trailer System consists of a specially designed bomb container mounted on a four wheeled trailer which is easily be towed. The container is made from two layers of high-strength, high-impact 40mm ballistic steel. The chamber space between the inner steel “sphere” and the outer steel wall contains sand, which together with the strengthened ballistic steel, helps absorb the effects of blast, thus enabling the container to be used repeatedly.
The Bomb Containment Trailer’s exceptional thermal and pressure-tolerant design provides high explosion suppression capability.
This particular Volkswagen concept has been resurrected from decades old sleep. Hardcore had it’s rusty fenders replaced with OEM German 1303 NOS, and built on an otherwise solid body, the top is removed for a Hebmeuler-like appearance. But a lot meaner!
Chopping the roof of a VW Beetle is no picnic, but chopping a 1303 is a whole new ballgame. As soon as the body massaging is done, the whole thing was sprayed an experimental suede like, flat black urethane blend suited for a stealth bomber.
Built for heavy-hitting circuit racing, Nuespeed adjustable coilovers replace tired VW McPherson struts and the Brembo brake upgrades are decades more advanced. Porsche 944 Turbo trailing Arms with koni adjustable shocks and same Brembo brake upgrades round out the rear. A blueprinted Eurorace 3.0 liter fuel-injected, Type4 engine, mated to a rare Berg 5-speed gearbox provide the juice.
Hardcore wears the latest Concept One Flat Black, 5 Spoke Rims with red lips with ADVAN rubbers, 19 inches front, 20 inches rear add teeth to this no-nonsense beast that manages to leave acrid white smoke while drifting.
Black alcantara Recaro racing seats hug the driver, 3-point belts anchor him. Carbon-fiber deck combined with VDO gauges and custom carbon-fiber door panels and rollcage quickly clean up and lighten the interior. No radio is allowed as the sweet rumble of the massive flat four provides enough accompaniment.
