Volkswagen Concept: Big AL

December 24, 2005

Need a little bit more room for your Tommy Guns? This stretched Volkswagen Concept comes out of the Rometsch 4-door. Updated Beetle body stretched 10 inches to accommodate the full red leather interior worthy of Capone. Bulletproof Whitewalls, red Steelies and smoothie chrome caps smooth out the ride through dangerous streets. An equally bullet-proof 1835 provides enough juice to outrun the cops.

Top of the World, Ma!

Volkswagen Concept: the Green Hornet

One of the baddest cars in the 60s was the Black Beauty of the Green Hornet. I was amazed at the firepower that it carried (Rockets, Hornets sting) as well as the “tracking device” (I forgot what hey called it).

Here is a chopped Heb-Style 2 seater. Visually hampered by the severe chop, it must be a handful to drive. (Only hotrodders need apply) This hornet’s sting comes in the form of eerie green tinted Big inch tuner rims (a little darker than Kawasaki Green) and a House of Color DayGlo Green tint mixed in with the clear on the ultra-straight Black Body. Green tints on the headlights and bumpers complete the look.

Guaranteed to burn retinas at night. Toxic!

A built 356 four-cammer rockets this bad bug

Brazilian Woody

December 21, 2005

Where have all the Brazilias gone? The ugly duckling here in the Philippines never got its due. Often maligned, these Volkswagen Beetle cousins from Brazil are poised for a big comeback. The look is a matter of taste. Either you like it or not. There is no middle ground.

What if you styled your Brazilia like one of the surfer rides from SoCal? 2.0 liter rims painted a medium orange complement the radiant orange hue. The wood is made out of extremely rare Brazilian hardwood for long lasting beauty. Welcome to the Boracay Surf Shop.

Volkswagen Concept: 1303 Volksrod

December 17, 2005

It had to happen sooner or later. While the Volksrod concept is a very viable alternative to the Cal-look, nobody has attempted to do a late model SuperBeetle in that format.

Well here it is. Guaranteed to piss off the purists. A 1303S SuperBeetle Convertible, The 1303 Rod. It is chopped, and fenderless. the front McPherson struts are tossed out in favor of early Ford hardware. Powered by a built 3.0 Type IV cannon. Painted in traditional suede (primer) and with a deliciously appointed red leather interior. Wheels are takeoff big inch Porsche Twists.

I updated the exterior with big inch Randar, Radar, or Rader rims. A smooth running dual webered 1835 handles all emergencies. Who are you?, huhu huhu Who are you? Huhu Huhu

Here’s a barnyard find. Found rusting away, at an undisclosed location, this panel was pulled out and underwent massive upgrades to it’s powertrain and mechanicals while retaining much of it’s crusty exterior. A full on 2180 provides CTC (Cinnamon Toast Crunch) massive power on demand. Big Inch 17 and 20s 5 Spokes peek under the slammed body.

Volkswagen Concept: The Ice Cream Truck (Fridgid Frid)

Heres’ one courtesy of The Good Humor Company. How would you like to get your popcicle from this ultra cool Frigid Frid. I was having 2nd thoughts on how to set it up. As a 50’s typical American Ice Cream Truck? Whitewalls and caps and rings?

I finally got inspiration from the local ice cream carts that somehow are slowly vanishing from our neighborhoods.

With big diameter Mahle’s and an equally stout engine. This Freezer on wheels will deliver your ice cream before it melts. yummy

2005 All Volkswagen Classics Car Show and Slalom

December 7, 2005

December 6, 2005

Well, 2005 is almost over and another spectacular show hosted by the Volkswagen Club of the Philippines is a success. Congratulations to the organizers for two days of fun in the sun.

I posted some pictures from the weekend.

Here’s Manilaghia, very early Saturday. At first I thought they changed venue but in a couple of minutes, the racers started arriving

Carlos and son and his beautiful Ghia arrived shortly

Doc Ces and Ocho came roaring into the parade grounds

In a while, Armand Hipolito and son arrived in their famous buggy

The Cavite boys arrived next bringing a very mean bug

Rae arrived with his 1302 Super

Let the race begin!

Even

Racers need to cool down. here’s Armans buggy for a breather between heats

The next day was show day. here are some pictures of the more interesting rides (at least for me) at the show

Here’s my choice for the show stopper! A Porsche 550 Replica

Would you guys believe it’s made in the Philippines? I’ll take one in silver (If I had a cool million to spend. Hahaha)

Congratulations to "Shortie" for winning the Sound Off

Finally, congratulations to Jappy Pascual and his brand-spankin’ new 68 Karmann Ghia. 2005 All-VW Classics Best In Show! Lufet!

See you all next year! I had tons of fun!
